Genoa Racing and Adrian Carrio Wrap Up Pre-Season Testing

Indianapolis, IN - Adrian Carrio has completed his final pre-season test days in the 2007 Cooper Tires Presents The Champ Car Atlantic Championship Powered by Mazda. He spent last Wednesday and Thursday at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca in Monterey, California driving the #17 Genoa Racing Swift 016 Atlantic car.

Carrio, from Monument, Colorado, turned a fast lap of 1.17.072, which was seventh quickest over the two days. With less time and experience than most drivers in the Atlantic paddock, "Ace" met the team's expectations by consistently turning lap times worthy of the top ten.

"I think the team has done a fantastic job working with me as a driver, and have made great improvements with the car," explained Carrio. "Track conditions were optimal to continue development with the set-up, and allowed for me to drive on the limit and learn as much as possible before (the season-opener in) Vegas."

Thomas Knapp, team manager and engineer was pleased with Carrio's results. "Adrian has showed the speed and consistency that I would expect from a driver of his caliber. He has worked hard to improve his performance and clearly stepped up his game for this test," explained Knapp.

Genoa Racing has returned to the Atlantic Championship this year after competing in the series in the early 90's with driver Jimmy Vasser. Team owner Angelo Ferro was on hand at last week's test to support his new driver, and is extremely excited to be a part of the Champ Car family. "We will be announcing our second driver by the end of March," said Ferro.

The team is gearing up for first race of 2007 in Las Vegas, April 6-8, at the Vegas Grand Prix.
