After the success of the 2013 season, MICHELIN will seek to reinforce its footing in Asia, a region where the automotive market is experiencing strong growth.
“After a 2013 year rich in learning, emotion and suspense, Michelin is proud to be part of Asian LMS again,” said Patrick DIAS, MICHELIN Asia-Pacific Motorsport Manager “There is no doubt that this season will bring even more race interest with an increase in prototype cars, both LMP2 and CN classes as well as the very competitive GT class.”
DIAS said “Michelin also believe that the Asian LMS format will help to develop Asian drivers and teams, and promote Asian Motorsport to a world class standard. 24H Le Mans 2014 will be the beginning of a long story with Asian drivers participation thanks to 2013 Asian LMS qualification format.”
“We are delighted to have MICHELIN on-board again with us for 2014 which is very important for the development of the Asian Le Mans Series,” says Mark THOMAS, Managing Director of Asian LMS. “MICHELIN can claim an unrivaled commitment, experience and record in endurance racing. I am sure its contribution will satisfy the new season field which is particularly rich, not merely in greater numbers but also in terms of the cars and drivers who will be competing.”
Patrick DIAS said “Michelin will have the ability to demonstrate the ‘Total Performance’ of its tires, combining grip on dry and wet surfaces, performance stability as well as wear performance as a key asset for endurance race.” 2014 will see MICHELIN continue to handle logistics and provide a service to teams in all five rounds of the series. MICHELIN aims to build on the 2013 season and further improve their support for the Asian LMS teams.
