ConvExx and NASCAR Team Up To Focus On Short Track Racing Industry

Short Track Racing Summits to be held Dec. 9-11 in Las Vegas and Feb. 14-16 in Daytona Beach

HENDERSON, Nev. and DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 27, 2004) -- In today's competitive motorsports entertainment market, weekly short track operators need innovative, fan-friendly programs to succeed. Las Vegas-based trade show organizer ConvExx, with support from NASCAR and many other motorsports organizations, is presenting a series of educational summits to help all short tracks throughout North America achieve their business goals. The first annual Short Track Racing Summits will be held in two sessions -- Dec. 9-11 in Las Vegas and Feb. 14-16 in Daytona Beach, Fla.

Billed as a "must attend" event for the entire racing industry, these summits will offer information from top experts in the areas of marketing, competition, safety, legal issues, advertising, public relations, concessions, merchandising and entertainment. The summits are open to track owners, managers, marketing directors, public relations representatives, officials, technical directors, administrators, fairgrounds operators, team managers and virtually all other motorsports professionals.

The Short Track Racing Summit will be produced by ConvExx, an independent show and conference organizer with a long history of motorsports participation. ConvExx founder, Chuck Schwartz, himself was a race car owner in the 1960's and a sponsor of TransAm in the late 1990's.

"Producing the Short Track Racing Summit gives us a chance to give back to a sport we love and help small business owners like ourselves produce quality entertainment for the fans," said Schwartz.

According to NASCAR Vice President Jim Hunter, who oversees NASCAR's own weekly racing and regional racing programs, the summits are a prime opportunity for tracks to develop new ideas to help their bottom line.

"ConvExx is developing an agenda based on the requests and feedback from track operators throughout North America," said Hunter. "In today's economy, tracks are looking for ways to increase attendance, revenue and visibility. These summits will be designed to offer tracks some proven options that can help their facilities. Plus, we hope everyone will have a lot of fun in the process."

The first session (Dec. 9-11) will be held at The Orleans Arena in Las Vegas. The Orleans has been very involved in motorsports, through its sponsorship of teams in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and the NASCAR Grand National Division, West Series. Discount hotel rates at The Orleans Hotel, located in the heart of Las Vegas' famous gaming district, are also available for summit attendees at $79 per night.

The second session (Feb. 14-16) is scheduled during Daytona's Speedweeks, at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach. Located just across the street from the "world's most famous beach," this facility is also adjacent to the Adams Mark Hotel, which will offer a Short Track Racing Summit room rate of $139 per night.

Both sessions of the Short Track Racing Summit will offer an all-star lineup of presenters and exhibitors. Track operators and other industry professionals are invited to attend either session, at a rate of $99 per person.
