Todd Bowsher, driver of the GFS Marketplace/Safe Auto Insurance Ford Taurus and the rest of the ARCA RE/MAX drivers and crews had a demanding weekend. First up on Friday for the #21 team was the Hantz Group 200 at the 2.0 mile Michigan International Speedway where Bowsher started 34th and finished 21st. On Sunday, the series was at the l.0 mile dirt track at the Illinois State Fairground in Springfield, Illinois, where Bowsher started 21st and finished 15th.

The 100 lap event at MIS started with Bowsher qualified in the 34th position. On lap 19, Bowsher brought the GFS Marketplace Ford to the attention of the crew for handling adjustments, four tires and fuel. Bowsher had moved to 29th after the pit stop when he became involved in an accident on lap 26. With four flat tires and major rear deck and spoiler damage, Bowsher rolled into the pits. After five trips to pit road during this caution, Bowsher restarted at the green flag on the end of the lead lap. By lap 63, Bowsher was in the 23rd position, finishing the 100 laps in the 21st spot.

Steve Wallace, Mike Guerity, Ken Schrader, David Ragan and Chad McCumbee were the top five finishers at MIS.

The ARCA RE/MAX cars rolled onto the dirt of the Illinois State Fairgrounds for one hour of practice on Sunday. Bowsher, driving the Safe Auto Insurance Ford was 17th during practice and qualified in the 21st spot. By lap 5, Bowsher had moved to the 14th position. When the first caution came out on lap 15, the #21 Ford came into the pits for a fuel only stop, as did 19 of the other lead lap cars. This was the only pit stop for the Jack Bowsher & Associates Motorsports team since Bowsher was able to avoid all of the accidents which occurred during the race. Bowsher ran most of the race in the 16th-18th positions, finishing 15th.

Frank Kimmel, Justin Allgaier, Joe Cooksey, Mark Gibson and Bill Eversole were the top five finishers at Springfield, Illinois. Bowsher remains in 9th in the year long series points.

Another hectic weekend is on tap for the ARCA RE/MAX series next weekend. The next race is Friday, August 29, at the 0.5 mile Toledo Speedway for the Hantz Group 200 presented by Belle Tire. It will be covered live on SPEED Channel at 9 pm EST. The Southern Illinois 100 is scheduled for Monday, September 5 at the 1.0 mile dirt track at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.
