Phillip McGilton Ready to Tame Talladega

Talladega, Ala. (October 2, 2007) - Phillip McGilton returns to action this weekend with the ARCA RE/MAX Series in the ARCA RE/MAX 250 at Talladega Superspeedway. McGilton and his Brewco Motorsports teammates have been counting down for this race for months. Working diligently at the test and in the shop, they are ready to not only leave their mark at Talladega with the No. 47 SI Performance Ford, but to do it with a large exclamation point.

"We have a really good car that we're bringing to Talladega, a real hot rod," said McGilton with a large grin. "It's a real solid piece and you can't beat these Roush-Yates plate motors. I think we're going to be really good. We're going into this knowing that we can win and we plan to do it. This is the car that sat on the pole at Daytona in the Cup race and came home 2nd in the Shootout and we're planning to take it to Victory Lane here."

This will be McGilton's first career start on the infamous 2.66-mile paved tri-oval superspeedway. With 33-degrees of banking in the north and south turns, this track is known to be incredibly fast and not very forgiving to rookie and veteran drivers alike. McGilton, however, has already had a run at the beast while participating in the ARCA RE/MAX Series open test in late September and was very pleased with his experience.

"The test went well there a couple of weeks ago," commented McGilton. "We were fast off the truck and kept getting faster all day. We were 11th on the speed charts, but that was also without making a true mock qualifying run. The track is smooth and it's going to be really fast this weekend. There are some really good teams coming, too, so it'll be a stiff race."

McGilton remains in 2nd place in the race for ARCA Rookie of the Year behind Michael McDowell. McGilton is currently in the 5th position in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship race with 4190 points.
