Rookie Aiming For Back To Back Wins
July 14, 2004 (Mooresville, North Carolina) - Ryan Hemphill has really enjoyed his season in the ARCA RE/MAX Series and the results have been beyond his preseason expectations. Coming off his 4th win of the season last week at Kentucky, Hemphill looks to continue with the enjoyment as the 22-year-old rookie and his #64 TRIMSPA DODGE charge into the oval of the Gateway International Raceway for the running of the Shop n' Save 150 on Friday night.
"After a week like last week, I am more than anxious to get back behind the wheel of my TRIMSPA DODGE," said Hemphill. "I have had some good success at Gateway in the past and I seem to get around the track pretty well. We are taking the same car that we ran at Pocono and it ran very strong before we ran out of fuel with a few laps left in the race. So I expect more of the same with this car at Gateway this week."
Hemphill heads into this weekend after a total dominating performance last weekend at the Kentucky Speedway where he led every lap of the rain shortened race and the aforementioned 4th win of the season. In only nine starts in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this season, Ryan has earned those four wins, three poles and seven top 10 finishes.
While the Apollo, Pennsylvania native enters this week aiming for back-to-back victories and his 5th win of the season - he finds himself heading to the tricky oval track at Gateway where he has had some success in the past. His increasingly impressive resume includes a trip to Victory Lane at the 1.25-mile track in 2002 while competing in the NASCAR RE/MAX Series. Ryan will be gunning for a repeat trip to the hollowed ground this Friday night.
"The guys on this Braun Racing/TRIMSPA team have been phenomenal all year and our performances to date indicate that," stated Ryan. "The cars that have been prepared for me have been top notch and our engine program with Ernie Elliott has been great. We have the total package working for us right now and I hope to continue with all of this at Gateway and be in a position at the end of the night to get that 5th win of the season."
The green flag for the running of the Shop n' Save 150 is scheduled to fall at 9:00 p.m. EST with LIVE television coverage on SPEED Channel.
