Our weekend started out in typical fashion . We recieved our engine Friday night at 9:30 (love engine builders). We worked all night and by 8:00am Saturday we were ready to roll . Arrived at Shady Bowl late . Unloaded and ran some quick practice laps . Qualified 5th , things are starting to look good . The race started out good . We ran in 5th place until the first caution around lap 23 . During the caution our engine started heating up . We stayed out during the caution until the water temperature reached 240 degrees . I called Eric in and we cooled the engine down by spraying cool water on the radiator . I sent him back out but as soon as he went out the track went under caution again . The car started losing water and since we still had one more race this weekend I called him back in and told him to park it . We finished in the 23rd place . On to Toledo .......

We arrived early at Toledo Speedway . We unloaded the car outside the track and started working on the overheating problem . We removed the electric fan and put on the old style steel six blade fan . During practice we started having some brake problems . We readied the car for qualifying . Qualified 13th , not too bad for not having any brakes . About ten minutes after we qualified it started to rain . This gave us some extra time to solve the brake problem . The race started and Eric reported that the brakes were just fine . We started moving up in position . By lap 75 we were in 5th . During some of the cautions I timed the pace car . They had told us during the drivers meeting that the pace car would be runing at 45 mph . That would give us about 30 seconds to bring the car in , change tires and get back out . After I saw the first few cars pit and not make it out without losing a lap , I decided we were not going to pit unless we had trouble . By lap 100 we were running 2nd following the 39 car which was being driven by Ken Schrader (yes , the Winston Cup one). We were the only two cars on the lead lap . Eric kept asking if we needed to pit and I would tell him only if Schrader did , of course I had no intentions of bringing the car in . I was just telling him that in case Schrader's team was listening to us . Eric stayed right behind Schrader watching for any weak spots in his line . At lap 140 the caution flag came out again . By the time they were ready to go green again it was going to be a green , white , checkered situation . Eric radioed in that he felt like he could get by him coming out of turn two and he was going to pass him on the white flag lap . But , that was all for naught . While going down the back straight before we went green the oil light came on and we were out of the race . The car coasted to a stop in turn four just as Schrader took the green . I will not repeat the radio conversations here , but I will say that we were all a little disappointed . We ended up finishing 10th . Eric did recieve the PowerSports Sportsman of the Race Award for pulling off the track in turn four to keep the yellow from coming out . What ARCA does not know is that it cost us an engine to do that . Eric saw the field coming down the back straight so he started the car and drove it off the track to keep from getting killed . All this without any oil pressure . Even though we finished 10th I am very proud of Eric and the team . We put on a good show for the crowd and showed alot of people we were a team to keep an eye on . I would also like to congratulate Mike Buckley . He gave a good showing for himself Saturday at Shady Bowl and qualified good at Toledo . I will let him tell you everything himself .

Our next race is this Friday July 4th at Kil Kare Speedway in Xenia , Ohio and then Saturday July 5th at Flat Rock Speedway in Flat Rock , Michigan .
