McGilton Looks to Repeat Success at the Salem Speedway

Salem, Ind. (September 13, 2007) - Phillip McGilton returns to the Salem Speedway this Saturday for the Eddie Gilstrap Motors 200 by Advance Auto Parts. With a great test and a strong race at Salem in April, McGilton is ready to return to the 0.555 mile short track and rub fenders for 200 laps with his fellow ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors.

"We had a really good race here in the spring," said McGilton about Salem. "It was our first short track race in the spring. We tested there really good and then raced really well that weekend. I am really excited to head back now with even more experience behind us. I think we should to be strong this weekend."

In April, McGilton qualified in the sixth position for the Kentuckiana Ford Dealers 200 with a lap time of 17.995 seconds. In the first short track race of his career, McGilton brought the No. 47 SI Performance Ford Fusion to the checkered flag in the seventh position.

"I really like the short track racing," commented McGilton. "It's close and tight and a lot of fun!"

McGilton remains in 2nd place in the race for ARCA Rookie of the Year behind Michael McDowell. McGilton is currently in the 5th position in the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship race with 4100 points, only 5 points behind 4th place Justin Allgaier.
