FOSTER JUMPS INTO ROOKIE OF THE YEAR POINTS LEAD FOLLOWING TOP FIVE AT TOLEDO
Toledo, OH (May 24, 2006) -- It is hard to believe that Ryan Foster has not competed in all six ARCA RE/MAX Series events of the 2006 season considering he is sixth in Championship points and is now tied for the ARCA Rookie of the Year points following his fifth place finish at the Toledo Speedway Sunday afternoon. The 18-year-old rookie was not able to compete in the first race of 2006 at the Daytona International Speedway because he had not yet been approved for the 2.5-mile speedway. But when Foster finally got to take to the race track at the 1.33-mile Nashville Superspeedway in April, he showed the ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors that he plans on being one to reckon with as the season progresses.
With only five career ARCA RE/MAX Series starts, Foster has already earned one of the most impressive average finishing records of the top-ten drivers in the point standings. Foster has earned two top-five finishes coming in the past two weeks at the Kentucky Speedway and at the short track of Toledo Speedway, both with fifth place finishes. Foster also earned two top-ten finishes at Winchester Speedway and Salem Speedway. Foster also currently holds the best finishing average of the top-ten drivers in ARCA RE/MAX Series points with an average finish of 7.6 which is followed by fellow rookie competitor, Justin Allgaier with a finishing average of 7.75.
"This has already been a great season for me," said Foster. "Every weekend I leave the race track with so much more knowledge and experience that takes me to the next race as a better driver in this series. I am learning how the other competitors race, how the cars handle and adjust to changes and I think most important, I have been learning a lot of patience on the race track. I'm really proud of what this team has accomplished this season and with everyone working together on the 46 and 47 team makes the success of both teams really special."
Following the Hantz Group 200 at the Toledo Speedway, Foster is now sixth in ARCA RE/MAX Series points, only 20 points out of the fifth position and 155 points out of the lead. Foster is also tied with Ryan Howard for the lead in ARCA Rookie of the Year points. The next race for Foster and the ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors will take place at Pocono Raceway on Saturday, June 10 and will be televised live on Speed.
