Shelby Howard to appear on 20/20.
16-year-old ARCA Re/Max Rookie driver will be featured on ABC news show this fall.

(July 1, 2002) Shelby Howard, the youngest driver to ever compete in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, will be taping a segment for "20/20" next week. The episode is scheduled to air sometime in the fall.

The prime time news magazine show on ABC goes behind-the- scenes to show the sacrifices that Howard and his family has made in order to advance his racing career.

Howard made his ARCA RE/MAX debut extra special by leading the race early for four laps last September. The youngster from Greenwood, Indiana has been racing since he was 10 years old, but is currently in only his third full year in a full-bodied stock car. In 2000, he became the youngest driver to ever win at Winchester (IN) Speedway, breaking the former record held by four-time NASCAR Winston Cup champion Jeff Gordon.

20/20 airs on Friday evenings at 10 p.m. ET.
