Rough Race for Brent at Rockingham
Rockingham, North Carolina - (October 10, 2010) - The season finale did not go as planned for the Allgaier Motorsports team at Rockingham Speedway. The weekend started off decent with a 15th in practice and 21st qualifying spot. Brent was happy with the handling of the car and thought that it would be great on the long runs.
When the final ARCA Racing Series Presented by Re/Max and Menards race started Brent was on the move. He worked his way up to the 12th position by the time the second yellow flag flew. The car was very loose but the team decided to stay out and try to save tires for later in the race since they were very important at this track. Brent restarted 11th but quickly found himself slipping backwards as his car got looser and looser. After a long green flag run the Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Charger was two laps down and struggling.
The team decided to bring the car down pit lane under green for four fresh Hoosier tires and Sunoco fuel with an adjustment to tighten up the race car. Shortly after returning to the track the yellow flag flew, trapping Brent four laps down to the leaders. With only a handful of laps to go Brent made contact with another car and cut a left front tire. This caused another pit stop for left side tires and more laps down.
The #36 machine ended the race in 26th place six laps down. "This was another disappointing race for us and an end to a rough season," Brent said. "We know we can run up front with these guys but just were not able to show it in down the stretch." The team ended the season 11th in the championship point standings.
We would like to congratulate Patrick Sheltra and the No. 60 Sheltra Motorsports Team for winning the 2010 ARCA Championship. Great job guys!
