Rockingham Already Richest ARCA RE/MAX Series Purse; Adds More With Savage Energy Pole Day

ROCKINGHAM NC (4-3-08) -- The richest purse in ARCA RE/MAX Series history just got richer.

The purse for the inaugural Carolina 500 at Rockingham Speedway is already posted at a record $306,557. And now, with the addition of Savage Energy Pole Day, an additional $5,000 has been added to the Rockingham loot bag.

"We're working really hard to increase the purse for the ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors," said Rockingham Speedway track president Andy Hillenburg.

"It's already the richest purse in ARCA's 56-year history. With our partners at Savage Energy Drink, we're able to add more incentive to go fast on Savage Energy Pole Day."

SIM Factory Pole Qualifying on Savage Energy Pole Day will offer a 'front row challenge' paying $2,000 to the driver who earns the pole position and an additional $2,000 to the driver who qualifies second.

And that's not all. There will also be $500 awarded to the fastest second round qualifier and $500 for the 41st qualifier, which is the last position earned by time.

"We also want everyone to know that we have laps available for sponsorship. Currently, we have 75 laps sponsored, and we've got 312 laps total that could be sponsored. Whoever happens to be leading on any of the sponsored laps will receive $100 for that lap led. So that means even more money for the competitors above and beyond the announced purse.

"We'd also like to welcome Cheerwine as the official speedway soft drink. You can find out more about Cheerwine at cheerwine.com. We're just delighted to have both Savage Energy Drink and Cheerwine as partners here at Rockingham for the inaugural Carolina 500. The excitement and interest in this event continues to grow."
