Rockingham, NC (May 3, 2008) For Travis Carter and son, Matt Carter, Rockingham Speedway is momentous in their family history. Travis, veteran NASCAR car owner and crew chief, recalls his memories and experiences at "The Rock".

"In 1973, we had to rebuild the car during the race to win the championship", said Carter. "Thirteen laps into the race we had to cut door bars out of another car and weld them in the car during the race to get back out on the track to gain enough points to win the championship. Tire management is crucial here at Rockingham. You have to do your very best to be disciplined and not to panic if other cars are ahead of you - just drive your car. A driver has to keep the car under control, drive the track down to the last thirty or forty miles and keep some tires. Tires is what wins the race - the guy with the freshest tires is going to win." Travis has been calling the shots for the No. 46 team thus far in the 2008 season. His veteran experience and advice is something that son, Matt Carter receives well.

"Dad pretty much said it all", said Carter. "I am really looking forward to racing here. It's a track I have always wanted to race. Rockingham is one of the tracks where NASCAR started and where it still should be. I remember coming out here camping out with my friends, and now I am here - racing. "

Carter and the No. 46 Stine Seed - NuSouth Lemonade Ford Fusion teams, tested well here in early spring and are looking forward to making a second generation stamp on "The Rock". The green flag will drop May 4, at 12 Noon Live on Speed Channel.
