Robb Brent And JAM Announce Crew Chief Change
SPRINGFIELD, Illinois (August 17, 2009) - - The Justin Allgaier Motorsports (JAM) team announced today that Crew Chief Bobby Blount will no longer sit on the No. 36 Orchard Chrysler Dodge Jeep Dodge Charger pit box. They have replaced him with new Crew Chief Dave Leiner.
"It was a call I really didn't want to make," said driver Robb Brent, who sits 10th in the ARCA RE/MAX Series point standings entering this upcoming Sunday's Allen Crowe 100. "Bobby is a great guy with a reputation he has earned as one of the best in the business. But, we all know that a crew chief has one of the toughest jobs. They get all the credit when things are going great and all the responsibility when they aren't." He continued, "When I called Mike Allgaier, my team owner, to discuss things, I knew I needed to shake things up a bit. We are a better race team than results have shown. Bobby and I just didn't seem to click. My whole team has been working their tails off each and every race and not getting the results we'd all like to see."
Brent, the Shelby Township native added, "This has been one of the toughest business decisions I've ever had to make in my racing career. I wish Bobby nothing but the best in his future endeavors."
Next up for the JAM team is an open-test at Chicagoland Speedway this upcoming Wednesday to regroup for the final eight races and also prepare for a grueling six-race stretch. After invading the top-10 in the ARCA RE/MAX Series championship standings with his finish at Pocono Raceway earlier this month, the team has set their sights in posting more top-10s and ending his rookie season also in the top-10 point's picture.
