Boston Reid to Run a Triple Race Wekend in Less Than Thirty-Six Hours
Memphis, Tenn. -- June 3, 2004 -- Boston Reid's weekend will be quite busy. The twenty one year old Indiana native is scheduled to squeeze in a USAC Valvoline Sprint Car Series race, an ARCA RE/MAX Series race and a USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series event, all in less that 36 hours.
"We will definitely have a busy weekend but it is something that I am looking forward to," said Reid.
Boston Reid's race weekend will begin at Kansas Speedway in Kansas City, Kan., Friday afternoon with practice for the ARCA RE/MAX Series Kansas Lottery $200 Grand. He is scheduled to drive the No. 5 ditech.com Chevrolet. Following practice, the 2002 USAC Valvoline Sprintcar Rookie of the Year will head to Cedar Rapids, Iowa to drive for Benic Racing in the USAC National Sprint Car Series. He is then scheduled to fly back to Kansas for ARCA RE/MAX qualifying in the morning. At 3pm, the green flag is scheduled to fall on the Kansas Lottery $200 Grand. Immediately following the race Reid is scheduled to fly to Terre Haute, Ind. to drive for the R.E. Technologies Racing USAC Silver CrownTM team for the Sumar Classic 100.
Besides the aid of a fast airplane, Reid will drive with three of the best race teams in their respective series. Boston Reid has driven for 2B Racing for several years winning the "Ultimate Challenge" last season and finishing 5th in the USAC National Sprintcar Series points.
Earlier this year, Reid signed a developmental contract with NASCAR power, Hendrick Motorsports. At the same time, it was announced that the Indiana native would drive three ARCA RE/MAX races for Hendrick ally Bobby Gerhart Racing. In his first run in an ARCA car, Reid finished third at Toledo Speedway in Toledo, Ohio. The 21 year old driver has tested before with Bobby Gerhart Racing at Kansas and looks forward to a successful race.
Reid's final stop will be in Terre Haute, Ind. were the R.E. Technologies Racing team will have the No. 35 Curb Records Silver CrownTM car ready and waiting. The R.E. Technologies Racing team was second quick in qualifying in 2002 at the Action Track. In 2003 the No. 35 car was gunning for the lead at the end of the race when the car suffered fuel pickup problems.
"The last two years at Terre Haute, we should have won the race," said Team Manager Chris Santucci. "I believe our car will be good again this year."
"I am excited to go to Terre Haute," said Reid. "Terre Haute has been really good to me so hopefully we can continue that in our Silver CrownTM car. I think the momentum from this weekend will carry us and we can have a good race. This car has always been good at Terre Haute, so hopefully we can continue and get our first win."
