WEST POINT, GA (October 12)- POWERTEL, Inc., announced today that they are teaming up with driver Lyndon Amick for the final two races of the 2000 ARCA (Automobile Racing Club of America) season.

POWERTEL will serve as the primary sponsor of Amick's No. 99 entry, fielded by Ken Schrader Racing, in the October 14 Winn-Dixie 300 at Talladega Superspeedway and the November 18 Georgia Boot 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"POWERTEL is looking forward to expanding our association with Lyndon Amick to include these events, " said POWERTEL President and CEO, Allen Smith. "The Southeast is a very important market for our company, and we're excited that customers and potential customers alike will have the opportunity to see the POWERTEL name represented in the sport of ARCA racing."

The agreement expands on the relationship between POWERTEL, Inc., and the 23 year-old Amick, who also competes in the NASCAR Busch Series Grand National Division (NBS). POWERTEL has been a co-primary sponsor of the Team Amick Motorsports No. 35 NBS entry for the past two seasons.

"I'm honored that POWERTEL has agreed to sponsor us in these last two races," said Amick. "Everyone at that company has been incredibly supportive of my racing efforts, and Ken (Schrader) and I consider it a privilege to work with such a fine organization."

The two-race sponsorship is not the first time that POWERTEL has been associated with the Schrader / Amick ARCA effort. The POWERTEL logo also appeared on the No. 99 in the ARCA season-opener, the Pro2Call 200 at Daytona International Speedway, where Amick finished 12th.

POWERTEL, Inc., a leading wireless Personal Communications Services (PCS) provider based in West Point, GA, is licensed to provide PCS services to a population of more than 24 million people in 12 Southeastern states. With service in 34 operational markets and along major connecting highway corridors spanning seven states, POWERTEL has the largest contiguous PCS network in the Southeastern United States.
