Kile Delivers Strong Performance at Pocono
Mooresville, N.C. (June 8, 2009)-Brad Keselowski Racing driver Mikey Kile, of Westlake, La., headed to Pocono Raceway with high hopes. But Mother Nature struck yet again.
The ARCA REMAX 200 field was once again set by owner points as heavy rain washed out Menards Pole Qualifying. Kile started his No. 29 Greased Lightning Cleaning Products Chevrolet in the 23rd spot.
It was Kiles first start at Pocono Raceway he and the BKR team were ready for what the 2.5 mile speedway had to offer. Thanks to Mother Nature, the hand they were dealt wasn't the best. However, with only 8 laps of practice on Saturday morning, Kile was able to bring home a top-10 finish.
"Ideally we would have gotten to practice and qualify but as we all know in racing you have to work with what you have. We were able to get in a few laps of practice and we were able to work thru the field from 23rd to eighth," said Kile. "Overall I would say we had a good weekend considering."
Crew chief Wayne Setterington Jr. agreed.
"Mikey did a great job. He impresses myself and the BKR team more each week. We really felt we were going to land a top five finish, until a late race restart got us and we fell back to 8th," he said. "We are hoping for better weather conditions going into Michigan this weekend."
Kile recently participated in the open test at Michigan and posted the fifth-quickest time during the session. Kile and BKR will be returning to Michigan International Speedway for the running of the Racing for Wildlife 200 on Friday, June 12th.
