Gabi DiCarlo Battles for Impressive Pocono Top Ten

Long Pond, PA (August 3, 2008) -. In what could be considered one of her most impressive races of her young career, Gabi DiCarlo piloted the Great Clips Toyota Camry to her third top ten finish of the season. DiCarlo, who competes in the ARCA/REMAX Series, would make a stop at Pocono Raceway for the 13th race on the series schedule. The race was a challenge to the newly restructured team as early in the race Gabi radioed in that the Toyota had lost power and seemed to be running on seven cylinders. With the help of some timely caution laps new Crew Chief Randy Nelson calmly guided the young team as they changed plug wires and remained on the lead lap. After dropping back as far as the 32nd position the rejuvenated racer would make an impressive run to the front.

"This is by far the best run that this team has had, we overcame adversity and finished strong," said Doug Stringer owner of Stringer Motorsports."We really seem headed in the right direction, I'm proud of the whole team"

The plug wire problem wasn't the only difficulty that plagued DiCarlo as the shifter ball broke off of the top of the transmission. Gabi was forced to shift a majority of the race with the jagged shifter arm which caused a major blister in her palm.

"My hand is sore but as hard as the crew worked to keep me on the lead lap, I couldn't let them down," said Gabi. "They gave me an awesome car"

Gabi and the Great Clips Race Team will now head to Nashville Superspeedway and the running of the Toyota 150, Saturday August 9th which will be broadcast live at 4:30pm ET on SPEED TV.
