Passmore Looking Forward to Pocono Return Following Career-Best Run at Gateway

Christi Passmore posted her career-best ARCA RE/MAX Series finish two weeks ago at the Gateway International Raceway in St. Louis when she finished in the fourth position. This weekend Passmore will make her fourth start at the Pocono Raceway in Pennsylvania for the Giant 200. Passmore's luck at the 2.5-mile Raceway has been rocky in her previous three starts with her best finish at the track coming in her first start in 2003 when she finished in the eighth position. But when the team competed here earlier in the 2004 season, transmission problems would force Passmore to the garage early and leave her with a 26th place finish.

"This is one of those race tracks where our finishes have been all across the board," said Passmore. "The first time we ran here we finished in the top ten and we have not been able to repeat that again since. But this is a fun race track to drive, but it is also very tricky to get around. It seems like if you are good in one corner, you will be off in the others."

Passmore is bringing her best No. 91 G.A.P. Roofing / Asphalt & Fuel Supply Ford of the 2004 season with her to Pocono, car 15. While 15 has brought her strong finishes in the season, it will be the momentum of her fourth place finish at Gateway coupled with her comfort in this race car that will hopefully give her a first top five finish at Pocono.

"The finish at Gateway will certainly be the momentum that our team needs heading into this Pocono race," said Passmore. "Not only was this our career best finish, but it was also the third top five finish that we had this season. I'm also excited about bringing '15' to Pocono. I don't know what it is about that race car, but it is just really comfortable for me to drive. It has always responded well to any changes we throw at it during the weekend and maybe we can get it to drive well in all the corners at Pocono."

Passmore is currently ninth in ARCA RE/MAX Series points entering this weekend's Giant 200. Passmore is 35 points away from the eighth position and 40 points from the seventh position. The Giant 200 will take the green flag on Saturday, July 31 at 1:00pm ET.
