Team GLOCK and Dexter to Make their Road Course Debut in New Jersey
Dexter Bean and Team GLOCK will make their first appearance on a Road Course at the New Jersey Motorsports Park in the 19 race of the 2008 ARCA RE/MAX Series on Sunday, September 28th.
The Loud Energy Drink 150 will take place from newly constructed New Jersey Motorsports Park on the Thunderbolt Raceway track configuration. This 2.3 mile road course is one out of the three courses in the New Jersey facility and is complete with 14 turns and a half-mile straightaway.
Team GLOCK will be carrying chassis #11 to New Jersey. This is the car they raced with in DuQuoin, where Team GLOCK recorded a fourth place finish. It has been updated with a road race suspension and had a new road course specific body installed.
This is going to be a challenge for Dexter this weekend as he has never ran a road course before. He has, however, been trying to make the most out of his resources. He has gotten quite a few tips from former Formula 1 racer and friend, Scott Speed. "I am excited to run at the new road course it will be a first for me. I've talked quite a bit to Scott Speed for advice on the new experience. He has a lot of road racing knowledge and that will hopefully be a big part of Team GLOCK's success on Sunday. The boys in the shop have worked hard on the car we look forward to bringing back a top ten finish," said Dexter. With a little beginners luck backed up by his driving skills, his lack of experience could be an opportunity for Dexter to bring home a top finish for Team GLOCK.
Team owner Jeff Spraker has had some experience at New Jersey this season and looks to use that knowledge with Dexter on Sunday. "The race at New Jersey Motorsports Park will present an opportunity to put Spraker Racing's road race experience into effect. We have had a strong season on these circuits in the NASCAR East Series this year and we will try to capitalize on that background in the car we have prepared for Dexter. We know this will be a challenging weekend for all of the ARCA teams who will be tackling a completely new venue, with drivers who have not had the opportunity to compete on road courses in the past. However, we believe that our team's successful history on this type of track will be extremely beneficial and we're confident that Dexter will get the job done behind the wheel."
Practice for the Loud Energy Drink 150 will be held on Friday, September 26th from 1:10pm 1:40, 3:00 4:30pm and again on Saturday, September 27th from 10:05 10:35am. SIM Factory Pole qualifying will take place on 2:15pm on Saturday and the Loud Energy Drink 150 (150 miles/67 laps) will commence at 1:00pm on Sunday.
Preparing for Talladega
Dexter and the #37 Team GLOCK show car made an appearance at Ed's Public Safety this past weekend in Stockbridge, GA in a Team GLOCK Racing Salute to Heroes promotion in preparation for the upcoming Talladega race. Ed's Public Safety is a top ten Law Enforcement distributor for GLOCK, Inc. and was a prime location for Team GLOCK to hold the Talladega promotion.
On Friday, October 3rd, GLOCK, Inc. will host an event in the infield of Talladega Superspeedway for Law Enforcement and Military heroes. Along with selected Law Enforcement and Military representatives and their spokesperson R. Lee Emey, GLOCK, Inc. will enjoy the activities of the highly anticipated Talladega ARCA RE/MAX 250.
