ARCA RE/MAX Series Headed to Michigan: Driver Development Entries Aplenty

TOLEDO OH (8-4-06)--One year ago Steve Wallace earned his career first win in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, sailing to victory in the Hantz Group 200 at Michigan Int'l Speedway and becoming speedway's youngest winner in the process.

On Friday evening, August 18, Wallace will attempt to repeat the performance in his father Rusty's No. 61 Nu South Lemonade-Hantz Group Dodge. The young racing legacy is one of several up-and-coming drivers entered for this August's edition of the Hantz Group 200.

In addition to Wallace, Pete Shepherd III will attempt to make his third career ARCA RE/MAX Series start in a No. 39 Griddly Headzgames-Reliance Tool Ford fielded by the Roulo Brothers. Shepherd, who is part of a driver development program for Roush Racing, is competing in six ARCA RE/MAX Series races this season.

From Brewco Motorsports, Houston, Texas native Brad Coleman has entered Michigan in a No. 62 Johnny Carino's Ford Fusion. Coleman, at eighteen-years-old, earned his career first ARCA RE/MAX Series victory at Kentucky Speedway in July and has several second-place finishes under his belt.

Phoenix Racing car owner James Finch, well known for several ARCA RE/MAX Series and NASCAR Busch Series victories, has entered Mobile, Alabama's Cale Gale for Michigan. Gale, who works for the team as a shock specialist, earned his first career ARCA RE/MAX Series victory in only his second career start at Gateway Int'l Raceway in July.

But developmental drivers looking to find victory lane at Michigan will have to battle a field full of talented full-time ARCA RE/MAX Series competitors as well. Among them, seven-time and defending champion Frank Kimmel, a two-time winner at Michigan, and four-time Daytona ARCA 200 winner Bobby Gerhart, a Pennsylvania native well known for fielding strong superspeedway cars.

The Hantz Group 200 at Michigan Int'l Speedway is LIVE on SPEED beginning at 5 p.m. Eastern on Friday evening, August 18th, 2006. Tickets are available by calling (800) 354-1010 or visiting www.mispeedway.com.
