Ergon driver secures fourth fastest time

Davidson, N.C. -- By compiling two top-ten finishes in their first two starts of the season, one would think that Marc Mitchell and the No. 93 Ergon team would take some time for themselves. Such thinking, however, would belie the desire to pick up his first ARCA RE/MAX victory that burns within Mitchell.

On Wednesday the Tallahassee, Fla. native, who is seventh in ARCA points despite missing one race, made the long trek to the Kansas Speedway for a test session in preparation for the Kansas Lottery $150 Grand event on April 27th. Thunderstorms cut the session to only a couple of hours, but Mitchell made the most of his time on the track. He toured the 1.5 mile oval in 31.95 sec., or 169.014 mph, which was good for the fourth fastest time of the test.

Tony Clements Racing has put together a stout stable of cars for Mitchell. The car that he tested at Kansas was the same chassis that he used to finish eighth at Nashville last weekend.

"That was a long way to go for only a couple of hours of testing," said Mitchell. "But something is better than nothing. We actually learned a good bit during our time out there and it should make us a contender when we come back at the end of the month."

"I really can't say enough about the cars that Tony has put together for me," continued Mitchell. "Setup-wise we are fast right off the truck and power is never an issue when you run Clements Racing engines. As you can see, we have been at the front of both races in which we have competed this year."
