Lofton claims pole for tonight's Tim Richmond Memorial 200

MANSFIELD, Ohio -- Eddie Sharp Racing's Justin Lofton returned to familiar form on Saturday, claiming the Menards Qualifying presented by Ansel Pole Award for tonight's Tim Richmond Memorial ARCA RE/MAX 200 at Mansfield Motorsports Park.

Lofton paced the day's lone practice session before hitting the track for qualifying. He ran the quickest time around the half-mile Ohio track in the No. 6 Lofton Cattle Toyota in 16.363 seconds, a top speed at 110.004 mph.

"It wasn't the prettiest lap," said Lofton, "but it did the trick. We have a really good car for the race -- and I love this track."

The pole was Lofton's fifth of the season, though he claimed the No. 1 starting spot in Michigan and Pocono based on points after rain knocked out qualifying. Saturday was the first time since Lofton's race-winning weekend in Talladega in April that the ARCA RE/MAX Series field was able to qualify on time.

Lofton's ESR teammate Steve Arpin followed suit within the top 10, running the seventh quickest lap overall. Arpin's No. 20 Toyota clocked in at 108.414 mph.

Craig Goess, Jr. laid down the 11th fastest time in the Greenville Toyota of NC Toyota and Tim George Jr., slid into the top 15, claiming the 13th spot in the No. 2 Ruby Tuesday/Chrome Hearts Toyota.

Lofton will lead the field to green at 8:30 PM EST with a live streaming audio available on ARCARacing.com.
