ARCA RE/MAX Series Celebrates 60th Appearance at Toledo Speedway: LIVE on SPEED September 1
TOLEDO OH (8-4-06)--Labor Day Weekend has traditionally served as a reminder that summer is drawing to a close. But in ARCAville, Labor Day weekend means things are starting to heat up, as the ARCA RE/MAX Series, now in it's 54th year of competition, is preparing for a five day stretch in which the series will compete in two races in two different states and throw a party to kick it all off.
On Thursday, August 31, ARCA and Toledo Speedway host the second-annual All-ARCA Fan Fest. A dunk tank, rides in a real racecar and racecar transporter tours are just a few of the activities slated for the Thursday evening event, designed as a prelude to Friday's Hantz Group 200 ARCA RE/MAX Series race at Toledo Speedway.
Friday's Hantz Group 200 marks the 60th time that the ARCA RE/MAX Series has visited the .5-mile speed plant. The race will be aired LIVE on SPEED beginning at 9 p.m. Eastern. A full day of activity is scheduled at Toledo, with registration set to open at 8:30 a.m. The ARCA RE/MAX Series garage area opens at 10 a.m., with a practice session scheduled from 2-3 p.m. and Pork Pole Qualifying at 5 p.m. The Hantz Group 200 rolls off at 9 p.m.
Seven-time and defending ARCA RE/MAX Series champion Frank Kimmel is the all-time winner with nine career victories at Toledo, followed by Bobby Bowsher with five, and Tom Bowsher, Bruce Gould and Ken Schrader, who have four wins each.
Schrader, who currently competes in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series for the legendary Wood Brothers, captured his 13th career ARCA RE/MAX Series victory at Toledo in May, when he won the 200-lap event over Justin Allgaier, Frank Kimmel, Brian Keselowski and Ryan Foster.
But for a group of eager racers, one race is never enough. Luckily for them, the ARCA RE/MAX Series will depart Toledo and steer for Illinois, where the Southern Illinois 100 is set to roll off at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Monday, September 4, 2006.
Tickets to the Hantz Group 200 at Toledo Speedway are available by calling the track at (419) 727-1100. Tickets to the Southern Illinois 100 at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds are available by calling track enterprises at (217) 764-3200.
