KENTUCKY SPEEDWAY REALIGNS STAFF, WELCOMES SALES ASSOCIATES
SPARTA, Ky. -- Kentucky Speedway has realigned organizational responsibilities for Debby Shipp, Dan Stuart and Mike Schmaltz and welcomed new sales associates Scott MacConnell and Chris Ryan.
Shipp is the new director of human resources and outside field sales. She will continue managing employee development activities while overseeing sales associates as the new director of human resources and field sales operations. The Dry Ridge, Ky., resident joined the speedway in 2000.
Stuart assumes the new director of sponsorship development and client services post. He will concentrate on acquiring, developing and servicing major event and facility sponsorships. He lives in Florence, Ky., and will begin his seventh speedway season in 2007.
Schmaltz, who has created and managed public relations, publication, Web site and other communications initiatives for the motorsports venue since 2001, will add marketing responsibilities in the newly-created senior manager of public relations, marketing and communications position. The 1990 Ohio University alumnus resides in Cincinnati.
MacConnell and Ryan are new sales associates with the speedway. They will create and execute corporate and group ticket campaigns. MacConnell recently earned a master's degree in sports and exercise management from The Ohio State University and holds a bachelor's of science degree in marketing from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He brings previous motorsports sales experience from Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course and its parent company, TrueSports, Inc., of Dublin, Ohio. Ryan, of Cold Spring, Ky., earned a bachelor's degree in sports business with a concentration in marketing from Northern Kentucky University in 2006. He worked as a marketing intern with the facility during the 2006 race season.
"I am very pleased to announce these internal changes and new additions," Kentucky Speedway Executive Vice President and General Manager Mark F. Cassis said. "We are continuing to make changes in how we approach our business and will have more updates at our upcoming 2007 season preview news conference."
The privately-owned, $152-million, 66,089-seat Kentucky Speedway will begin its eighth season of operation next year. It plays host to annual NASCAR Busch Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, Indy Racing League IndyCar Series and ARCA RE/MAX series races from May through August as well as NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series test sessions and other prominent special events.
