MOUNT VERNON, IL (May 8, 2008) - In the midst of a hectic six week race schedule Gabi DiCarlo took a quick break to be the guest of honor at J.L. Buford Intermediate Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. The Mount Vernon Police Department and Dare Officer Ray Gilbert were having the Graduation proceedings for over 250 city wide 5th grade students. The students had completed the DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program and were being honored for pledging to a drug free life.

"I was as excited as the kids to have Gabi show up, we have been following her racing all season long", Said Officer Gilbert. "It was a real treat for the kids; I've never had such fantastic feedback before".

Gabi talked to the students about importance of staying drug free and the ability to follow their dreams, signed autographs and gave some special hugs to the enthusiastic young crowd.

"This is a real treat for me, you can see so much promise in these kids," said Gabi. "I can see why this school is considered one of the best in the state, they do a great job."

DiCarlo and the Great Clips Race Team will now turn their attention towards Kentucky Speedway and the running of the ARCA RE/MAX Series Drive Smart Buckle Up Kentucky 150, May 10th at 8:00pm. The team will return to Toyota power and chassis number 69 that DiCarlo piloted to her best finish (9th) earlier in the season at Kansas Speedway.
