Jennifer Jo Cobb planned to make history in the ARCA RE/MAX Series this weekend when she hoped to become the first female driver and owner to compete in an ARS race at Daytona International Speedway.

Unfortunately, Cobb's lap on Friday during time trials wasn't quite enough to make the starting grid. Below is a statement from ARCA RE/MAX Series driver and owner Jennifer Jo Cobb:

"Even though we did not make the race, we are encouraged because of a beginning. We have a beginning because we have a car, a relationship with my crew and more knowledge than we began with," she said.

"I have a lot of respect for all of the teams here this weekend. A lot of great teams went home. That puts us in good company, which is nothing any us of should hang our heads about."

Cobb, added, "Now its time for us to focus on our Driver Boutique line of clothing. Selling apparel will equal faster equipment."
