McCumbee Set to Challenge the Best of ARCA at 2011 Season Opener
BERWYN, PA, February 10, 2011 - The 2011 racing season is finally here. And returning driver Chad McCumbee is staged to lead the field in the No. 1 ModSpace Ford Fusion at the ARCA Racing Series season opener at Daytona International Speedway this Saturday, February 12.
"Just getting to the checkered flag is a challenge with so many great drivers and cars in the hunt," said McCumbee. "We've got a solid team, a fast car and a great sponsor. We just need to execute as planned and take a few calculated risks along the way."
McCumbee rounded out the 2010 season with five consecutive top 10 finishes. This year, McCumbee and Andy Belmont Racing let their winning intentions known from the start as the team logged the third fastest overall combined test speed of 48.427 seconds or 185.847 mph in last month's testing at Daytona.
"We got a lot of good feedback while testing and we've adjusted our strategy and dialed in the car accordingly," said Team Manager Andy Belmont. "The paving job, combined with a smaller restrictor plate rule changed a bunch of things like shock and gear selection. We have to be way more aggressive with our chassis setup. Look for us push hard all season long, starting at Daytona."
"Since Daytona repaved the track, it is a much different racing surface," added McCumbee. "It is so smooth that handling becomes a minimum and raw speed is a must. It should be one of the more exciting races Daytona has seen."
Saturday marks the fourth start at Daytona for the Supply, N.C. native . It's also the second straight year he'll be flying the ModSpace banner .
"Andy Belmont Racing and Chad have been tremendous ambassadors for our brand," said ModSpace Motorsports Director William Mann. "They've worked hard to get here and know what it takes to get to the front. Both our car and driver are fully capable of going to Victory Lane come Saturday."
