LUSK HOLDS THIRD IN POINTS AFTER ROUGH DAY IN MICHIGAN
MOORESVILLE, NC (6-18-06) Damon Lusk, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, holds tight to third in the ARCA RE/MAX Series Championship points standing after finishing a frustrating 20th in Friday's Hantz Group 200 at Michigan International Speedway Friday, June 16th.
Lusk, who was 6th fastest in Thursday's practice, climbed in to his Dodge Charger Friday happy and confident he had a winning car. But, after impact with the wall on lap five, Lusk fell three laps down, fighting an extremely tight car the rest of the day.
"After Thursday's practice I felt like this was the best car we've had all year," Lusk said. "But once the race started, it felt like a totally different car. We were able to come in and make some adjustments, but after about five laps in to the run, the car would go right back to where it was before the pit stop."
Lusk however wasn't the only one that had a bad day. Both Kimmel and Gerhart finished outside the top ten, keeping Lusk third in the ARCA RE/MAX Series points standings.
"You hate it for anyone that is having a bad day. But when you're contending for the championship, and the top two struggled along side of you, you can't help but be a little relieved."
