2ND PLACE FINISH AT CHICAGOLAND FOR MARKS; HUNGER FOR WIN INTENSIFIES
CONCORD, NC (9-10-07) Justin Marks, driver of the #65 Construct Corps Dodge, finished just short of a win, as he took home his second, second place finish of the 2007 ARCA RE/MAX Series (ARS) season at Chicagoland Speedway for the Chicagoland ARCA 200 Saturday, August 8th.
"I am really proud of the overall effort at Chicagoland," Justin Marks said. "The Construct Corps team was really well prepared and did a great job during practice and qualifying to put us in the best possible position to contend for the win. We really focused on race trim both during testing and the race weekend. We didn't quite pick up where we wanted for qualifying, but I knew once we got into the run and the race started to play out, we'd find ourselves consistently up front all day. We only made minor tire pressure adjustments during the pitstops to get the car to the point where we could make a run for the win. The car was as close to perfection as we've had all year at the end of the race."
In just five weeks, Marks has racked up five top-tens, three top-fives and has jumped from 11th in driver ARS driver's points to sixth, only 105 points shy of fourth.
"We changed our approach a little in the past month from points racing to just going flat out for wins. My confidence and the team's confidence have skyrocketed since then and we've been in a position to win more than one race. As a result, we've been able to make huge gains in both the owners and drivers points. We're not that far out of 4th in driver's points and even have a shot at a top five in owner's points. Finishing in the top five in both categories after the summer we had would be something to be really proud of and just shows the resilience and dedication of RAB Racing and its sponsors."
With only three races remaining in the ARS season, Justin Marks and the RAB racing crew head to Salem Speedway this Friday for the season's final race under the lights. Marks, who ran in the top ten in the spring Salem race before a cut tire and a mechanical issue caused him to finish 20th, looks to take this team's current momentum to victory lane.
"I'm excited to go to Salem because our short track program has been so strong and with our momentum and approach as of late, I think we can really contend for a win. I love racing these types of tracks, especially Salem. We've run so strong there before and I look forward to doing what I can to get the Construct Corps Dodge Charger in victory lane."
The Eddie Gilstrap Fall Classic 200 is a one day show Sunday, September 15th, with qualifying set to begin at 3:00 PM ET followed by the green flag at 7:15 PM ET.
