STATESVILLE, N.C. (March 4, 2003) -- Driver Hideo Fukuyama will attempt to qualify the No. 9 Kikkoman Ford Taurus for Saturday's ARCA 400 at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The ARCA event marks the second race in his multi-series driving effort with Travis Carter Enterprises, which began in last weekend's NASCAR Winston Cup Series race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

From the No. 9 Kikkoman driver Hideo Fukuyama

What kind of challenges do you face going into the ARCA 400 race?

"The ARCA race will give me a chance to run on a very fast track with some younger, aggressive drivers, so it will be challenging. I want to work hard to see just how well I can drive against that level of competition."

What is your main goal for the ARCA 400 race?

"My main goal is just to gain the experience of running on the Atlanta Motor Speedway and use it as a learning tool to improve my driving."

From the No. 9 Kikkoman Crew Chief Gary Cogswell

What are your expectations for this weekend?

"I expect the No. 9 to get a decent qualifying position, run the whole race to completion and have Hideo gain experience for that type of race course."

What is your goal for the ARCA race?

"My goal is to have Hideo learn about that type of race car. I want the guys to get the car to where Hideo can drive it well so he can gain a good perspective of the car from the driver's point of view."

What kind of challenges do you think you'll face?

"The ARCA race challenges will be the same as in all the early events-- getting a good communication flow and getting Hideo accustomed to the heavier stock cars."
