MERGEN, HICKMAN JOIN ARCA STAFF

TOLEDO, OH (4-12-10)-Officials from the Automobile Racing Club of America announced today that George Mergen and Griffin Hickman have joined the full time administrative staff at ARCA in the company's Marketing & Communications Department.

Mergen, a graduate of the University of Toledo, has been named Director of Marketing for the Temperance, Michigan based sanctioning body. A 10-year veteran of Ford Racing Technology agency work at PCG Campbell and J. Walter Thompson, Mergen was most recently the Marketing Manager for the Imagination Station, a children's hands-on science center in Toledo.

Hickman, a graduate of the University of Michigan, has been named Director of Communications, and will relocate to Michigan as of April 19. Hickman most recently served as Manager of Communications at Phoenix International Raceway, and has also worked in the PR Department at Michigan International Speedway.

Both Mergen and Hickman will report to ARCA Vice President of Marketing & Communications Mark Gundrum.

"We look forward to bringing George and Griff to our full-time staff," said Gundrum. "Each brings an impressive and extensive skill set to their new roles, and each has a solid background in motorsports."

ARCA, founded in 1953, has 85 motorsports events on its 2010 sanctioned-event schedule. The company's highest profile property is the ARCA Racing Series presented by RE/MAX and Menards, with 20 races in 12 states, including 10 televised live or same-day on SPEED TV. ARCA also sanctions weekly racing at Flat Rock Speedway in Michigan and Toledo Speedway in Ohio.
