Anderson, IN - At 17 years young, 2nd generation driver Aaron Hulings answered the critics Saturday night at Anderson Speedway by winning the 50 lap ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series main event in only his third attempt in the new touring series. Hulings, in his HRP Motorsports Ford Ranger, overhauled Troy Marcinciak on the 25th circuit, stretched his lead to 10 truck lengths and carried the advantage all the way to the checkers to become the third different winner after three events. "This is unbelievable," said the Rockport, Michigan driver in victory lane. "I can’t believe how tough this series is already, and to win in only our third try is awesome. I owe it all to my dad. He gives me the opportunity, sets the truck up and lets me have all the fun. The handle on our Ford Ranger was perfect." Hulings’ father Brad was a 2-time ARCA Midget champion and is ranked 6th on the all-time win list. Bobby Marvin finished second in the Ed & Company-Prestige Delivery Ford ahead of Jack Weethee who takes over the point lead after the Grove City, Ohio driver finished third. Robbin Slaughter and Robert Stoner completed the top five. Jeff Speakman set a new track record at 13.063 seconds in qualifying and brought his Pennzoil-National Auto Lube-Esslinger Ford home in sixth. Scott Belknap, Dave Reeb, John Toth and Kendra Lake rounded out the top 10. Hulings was also awarded the Cloyes Gears & Products Halfway Leader honors and the RJS Safety Belt Award. The Ed & Company Hard Charger honors went to Stoner for advancing the most positions, from 15th to fifth. Next action for the versatile ARCA Lincoln Welders Truck Series will be on the one-third mile clay oval Thunderbird Raceway in Muskegon, Michigan on June 26th before the series makes its second appearance at Flat Rock Speedway on July 3rd.
