Allgaier Motorsports suffers devastating loss

Springfield, IL (February 22, 2007)-Allgaier Motorsports suffers a devastating loss with the passing of longtime friend and mentor Leroy Donley this past week. Donley nicknamed "Trashman" raced in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at the Daytona International Speedway in 1973 and was a close personal friend of Mike "Gator" Allgaier.

"Leroy (Donley) was probably my closest and most true friend," Mike Allgaier said. "Leroy was not only a supporter of my son and this race team but he was also a strong businessman that helped me get to where I am today. His passing is an overwhelming loss to the team because of his influence on each and every person here. Leroy touched their lives on and off the track and will be greatly missed by many."

The No. 16 ARCA RE/MAX Series car driven by Allgaier's son, Justin Allgaier had a permanent area for Donley on the TV panel simply stating thanks Trashman.

Donley, 68, passed way at his home in Lincoln, Mo. after a long battle with cancer. He was a bison rancher, owner-operator of Leroy Donley Trucking Co. and a veteran of the U.S. Army.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Mott and Henning Funeral Home in Athens, Ill., where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will follow at Joel Hall Cemetery in Athens.
