SONOMA, Calif. - Honda's Nicky Hayden completed a doubleheader sweep Sunday of the AMA Supercuts Superbike Challenge, presented by Honda of Milpitas, at Sears Point Raceway with a victory in the 26-lap main event.

Hayden was able to take advantage of a starting line hole-shot to take an early lead over pole-sitter Anthony Gobert (Yamaha) in the feature, and he was never challenged the rest of the way before a record crowd at Sears Point. Aaron Yates (Suzuki) held on for second place, while Miguel Duhamel (Honda) was third. Hayden also won Saturday's 26-lap Superbike feature, and he has now won eight of the last nine AMA U.S. Chevy Trucks Superbike races dating back to the 2001 season.

"This feels awesome," Hayden said. "I wanted to get the hole-shot today, and the first few laps felt really good. To win a doubleheader is incredible."

Duhamel, a four-time Superbike winner at Sears Point, was able to hold on to the second spot until the shift lever on his RC-51 Honda broke off, opening the door for Yates. Duhamel placed second in Saturday's Superbike feature.

"I was up there just trying to keep Nicky honest," Duhamel said. "With six laps to go, I thought I could give him a run for his money, but the shifter lever broke off and that really messed me up."

Petaluma native Eric Bostrom (Kawasaki), finished fourth, with Ducati rider Pascal Picotte rounding out the top five. Pole-sitter Gobert was taken out of the race early with mechanical problems as he exited Turn 1 on the 12-turn, 2.32-mile road course.

In other main event action, Yates won the Pro Honda Oils Supersport 16-lap feature, while Sunnyvale's Chuck Sorensen (Aprilia) took the MBNA 250 Grand Prix. Damon Buckmaster (Yamaha) captured the Lockhart Philips USA Formula Xtreme title in his first-ever AMA race at Sears Point Raceway.
