The stage was set for the return of the AMA Progressive Insurance series to Columbus, Ohio after a 22 year absence. Ticket sales were brisk. The track was perfect. The riders were excited. The only person who could mess things up was Mother Nature, and she did exactly that today. Steady rain in Columbus Sunday morning, which was forecasted to continue throughout the day, gave AMA Pro Racing officials no choice but to call it a day.

The First Annual Buckeye National will run on Sunday, September 22 at Scioto Downs, five months and a day after originally scheduled. Although fans will have to wait a bit to see the best flat track motorcycle racers in the world return to Columbus, it'll be well worth the wait as there is no doubt the racing will be incredible on the beautiful 5/8 mile limestone track. Fans who already purchased their tickets should hold on to them until September 22.
