Spring Run, PA-Austin Greenland, 11, of Spring Mills won three feature events Saturday in American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Region 6 short track series racing at the Path Valley Speedway Park.
With 103 riders from five states registered for the quad and two-wheeler features, Greenland won on his #8A Honda in the 85cc 7-11 year old class. Then he won on his Kawasaki in the 65cc class. To top the day off he returned on a different Honda to win the 100cc Mod feature.
Greenland's parents are Ray and Karen Greenland of Spring Mills and his sponsors are Mom & Dad, R.D. Greenland & Son Masonry, The Eutaw House Rest., Expert Cycle & Grammy Dee & Pappy Al. He is the current state champion in both the 60cc class and the 80cc class for 7 to 11 years old.
Other multiple winners included Bailey Spence of Rising Sun MD who won in both the 55cc class for 4-6 year olds and the 55cc oil injected class. Raun Wood of Dublin PA won in the 250 A and 600A features and Robert Lewis of Tarboro NC won the Sportsman feature and the 500cc feature. Former national 85cc champion John Lewis V of Brandamore PA won in the 250B class.
The AMA bikes return to Path Valley Oct. 13 to close out the season with a daytime show with gates open at 10 a.m.
Joey Avery of Chester VA, who was injured in the 250B action, was reported in good condition Sunday at the York hospital with multiple fractures.
The Path Valley Speedway Park is located in Spring Run PA a mile north on PA Route 641 from the intersection with PA Route 75, halfway between Port Royal and Hagerstown. It is five miles east from the Willow Hill Exit 14 of the PA Turnpike off Route 75.
