Reed led the 250cc field all season, with ten wins and six other podium finishes en route to his first 250cc AMA Supercross Championship. He finished the season with a final tally of 355 points and became just the third rider in AMA Supercross history to reach the 10-win mark.

Kevin Windham (Honda), also on Bridgestone tires, took the victory at Las Vegas and finished the season at second place in the points standings with five wins, eight other podium finishes and 346 total points. The top four finishers in the points standings were all Bridgestone-equipped riders, with Mike LaRocco (310 points) and David Vuillemin (271 points) rounding out the quartet.
