M Racing's Dean Mizdal, AMA Superbike Rider #38, Recovering Quickly After Multi-Rider Crash at Mid-Ohio
August 18, 2008 - Glendora, CA - M Racing's Dean Mizdal, AMA Pro Superbike Rider #38, is recovering quickly after being involved in the first of a series of crashes during Race One of the Honda Super Cycle Weekend at Mid-Ohio August 3rd. Mizdal was one of several riders who hit oil laid down by Neil Hodgson's blown engine during lap 7 of Saturday's race. He was transported by ambulance to Mansfield Hospital , where X-rays revealed a pulmonary contusion (bruised lung), a small fracture in his right wrist, and a severe bruise on his left hand. He was released from the hospital that night.
All of Mizdal's injuries are healing well--so well that the M Racing team is already working to rebuild the superbike in a bid to get back on the grid in time to finish this historic race year at Laguna Seca. "Dean wants to thank everyone for the countless get-well cards and best wishes," says M Racing Team Manager David M'greene. "He looks forward to seeing you at the track."
The M Racing team debuted at the end of the '07 season, coinciding with the opening of M Racing Performance, a full-service motorcycle tuning, maintenance and performance shop opened by Mizdal and M'greene in Glendora , California .
Dean Mizdal is probably AMA racing's most renowned privateer. He began riding motorcycles as a pre-teen, and has been racing for 24 years. Being a privateer means having to do the work yourself--from getting to each race to building a fast engine. Mizdal became an expert at crafting engines and building bikes, so he started building them for other riders to fund his career. Dean's motors are highly sought after by riders in AMA, WERA, AFM, and WSMC.
"The M Racing Performance shop is inseparable from the race effort and vice versa," M'greene says. In addition to AMA, M Racing supports several local club racers contesting WERA, AFM, CCS and WSMC. "We offer trackside coaching, suspension set-up and performance tuning to our customers who race."
