RYAN KERR READY FOR A FUN WEEKEND OF RACING AT BARBER MOTORSPORTS PARK
Johnstown, Ohio...Ready for a fun weekend of racing, Ryan Kerr and the Ryan Kerr Racing crew head for the Superbike Classic at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Ala., September 24-26.
"I am definitely excited about this upcoming event," says Kerr who ended the season in 8th overall in AMA Pro SuperSport East. "It is a special two-race shootout event." he explains. "And, that takes off some of the pressure. We always want to do well, but not having to worry about points makes this more fun.
Once again, this is a brand new track for me. From what I have heard, Barber is an extremely motorcycle friendly track. They also tell me that it is very technical and a good handling bike is definitely a major key to doing well. The crew has my Kawasaki hooked up and I think with a little luck I think we can hold our own. I like technical tracks and am looking forward to trying my hand at this one."
Racing two 17 lap races of 40 miles each, Kerr will be on the gas from the start. "We finished every race," he says. "And, we have every intention of finishing this one. Crashing out isn't in our program."
In his first year of professional road racing, Ryan Kerr Racing is small privateer team based in Ohio.
"Being a new privateer team this season, "explains Kerr, "we didn't have the luxury of being able to participate in the tests or open track days. "Every track we went to with the exception of Mid-Ohio was a new challenge. And, at the one track we knew, we had a major suspension problem. We are really pleased to have finished in the top ten. The competition is actually pretty fierce in this class and there are a number of riders capable of winning each time out. I learned an incredible amount and we fully intend to be back next year with a vengeance. My dream is to go all the way to the top and that is what I plan to do."
