AMA ROAD RACE GRAND CHAMPIONSHIP CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY
Events kick off this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course

PICKERINGTON, Ohio (September 20, 2007) -- The nation's top amateur road racers are once again setting their sights on national honors as the 10th Anniversary of the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Road Race Grand Championships come to Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, on Sept. 21-23.

After originating at New Hampshire International Speedway in 1997, the AMA Road Race Grand Championships moved to Mid-Ohio in 2000 where it features many of the country's best amateur road racers vying for 36 individual national championships. In addition to the individual class honors, special awards will be given for the Top Novice Rider, The Club Challenge Championship and the prestigious AMA Horizon Award. Past winners of the AMA Road Race Horizon Award include Jason DiSalvo, Blake Young and two-time AMA Superbike Champion Ben Spies.

The three-day event features a large variety of classes for Expert, Novice and Youth riders, including three Pro-Am races that will bring together top club road racers to compete against AMA professional riders. All event winners will be honored at the AMA Sports Awards Banquet in Las Vegas this November.

The Road Race Grand Championship weekend will also mark the second edition of the Motocross Manufacturers Cup; an event in which all competitors represent their manufacturer to determine an overall manufacturer's champion for the weekend.

AMA members get $5 off a Weekend General Admission ticket when they show their AMA membership ID at the gate. AMA and Mid-Ohio will host a Saturday Night Racer Party. Racers free and others can purchase admission to the party for just $5.
