ZYTEK LATEST ENTRY TO CROSS ATLANTIC FOR PETIT

Braselton, Ga. - The grid for the 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans has grown again with the confirmed entry of the No. 15 factory Zytek 04S, which wowed American Le Mans Series fans at Mid-Ohio in May.

As was the case there, Hayanari Shimoda and Tom Chilton will pilot the Zytek in Round 9 of the ALMS. The two also will race in the season-ending Monterey Sports Car Championships at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Oct. 15.

Europe is well represented on the Petit grid, highlighted by the Zytek and a pair of Aston Martin DBR9s. Other European entries of note include the No. 27 Horag-Lista Lola, the No. 30 Barzai Kruse Motorsport Courage and the No. 41 Binnie Motorsports Lola. All entries in the Petit Le Mans field will be racing for automatic invitations to next year's 24 Hours of Le Mans, with class winners awarded the bids.

Shimoda, 21 years old, blistered the Mid-Ohio circuit, breaking the qualifying record by nearly a second and setting a new mark for fastest race lap by more than two seconds. He and the 20-year-old Chilton recently teamed to win the Nurburgring round of the LMES (from the rear of the grid), and Shimoda leads the series' championship standings.

The ninth round of the American Le Mans Series is the 1,000-mile/10-hour Petit Le Mans, scheduled for 11:20 a.m. EDT Oct. 1 at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Ga. SPEED Channel will provide live television coverage. Qualifying is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. EDT Sept. 30. American Le Mans Series Radio, and IMSA Living and Timing Scoring will be available at www.americanlemans.com.
