Polesitter James Weaver, in the #16 Dyson Racing Lola took the green flag and has maintained the lead around the halfway mark at Mosport International Raceway. The American Le Mans Series, Round six got off to a clean start except that when the #50 Panoz Esperante, driven by David Saelens, lost the hood and some front bodywork on the front straight, but managed to maintain his momentum and continue without pitting.
Second place, Marco Werner in the #38 Champion Audi has been between two to eight seconds adrift of the leader; the battle between the Dyson Team and the Audi continues.
Around lap seven, the #37 of Jon Field had an off road excursion, but managed to continue on his way. However, driving off course was not his only problem. Field pit on lap 14 with some possible handling issues; he later retired.
Clint Field in the Intersport Racing #30 continues to maintain the lead over the #10 Miracle Motorsports, driven by James Gue.
Oliver Gavin in the #4 Corvette has managed to hold off the #3 of Johnny O'Connell in battle for the GTS class lead, maintaining a fairly steady gap between them.
Lonnie Pechnik in the #44 Flying Lizards Porsche maintained the lead over the #24 Alex Job Racing Porsche, driven by Marc Lieb until around lap 24. Lieb took a short lived lead over Pechnik he made contact with the Turn 2 tire wall after gaining the lead. Lieb did manage to continue back to the pits with front end damage where his crew is currently making repairs. "I maybe braked a little too late. It seemed we were running out of breaks and then - straight into the wall," stated Lieb.
Lieb complained of soreness according to Porsche spokesman, was checked by the track medical centre and has been transported to Lake Ridge Health in Oshawa for observation of neck pain.
