Dyson Racing's Guy Smith always enjoys returning to the 24 Hours of Le Mans, and why wouldn't he? The friendly Brit was part of the overall- winning Bentley entry in 2003 and was second a year later with Audi UK. The last two seasons he has joined Quifel-ASM in LMP2, this year with a Ginetta- Zytek. He tells us how competing in the American Le Mans Series with Dyson Racing in a Mazda-powered Lola coupe aids in the preparation for the world's greatest race.

"I think it's pretty similar. Anywhere you go it's always competitive," Smith told americanlemans.com. "We've seen the teams and the drivers that race here in the American Le Mans Series have always gone over to Europe, and particularly Le Mans and done well, and in the case of Corvette, won the race. It's very competitive; I think it's a great preparation for the 24 Hours. It's obviously the main race of our year; it's a huge race. It's probably one of the most difficult races we're going to do all year long. Of course, being 24 hours, it's extremely tough, so I'm really looking forward to it. It has been great preparation here racing in the American Le Mans Series; we're driving the cars all the time so we're getting up to speed and that's all good."

The Quifel-ASM Zytek will start third in P2 on Saturday. Smith is driving with Olivier Pla and Miguel Amaral.
