Archangel ready for Canadian double-header
August 2, 2002 Road Atlanta, GA -- Archangel Motorsport is at the track and ready for it's first of two Canadian races -- Le Grand Prix de Trois-Rivieres in Trois-Rivieres, Quebec, Canada.
The new American Le Mans Series standout team has secured the driving talents of Canada's own Marc-Antoine Camirand to share the saddle with team driver Ben Devlin in the their highly successful #13 Millington-powered Lola B2K/40.
Devlin, now 2nd in the American Le Mans Series LMP 675 Driver's Championship, together with the team, is on a run with four podiums in four appearances. The new Millington powerplant has proven to be fast and - much needed in the 675 class - reliable. The Millington was conceived by Roy Millington and expertly developed by England's Marshall Cooke Ltd., which sponsors Devlin, along with Norfolk Labels, Ltd. and Stratton Flooring.
"I think it's going to be a good weekend here. It's a lovely town and the streets are the same as they were when I was here last year," said Devlin. "I was fortunate to earn a 2nd in class here last year in the Archangel SRPII and to be back here this year with the American Le Mans Series adds some more prestige. I think we stand a good chance this time around. We made some minor changes with the brakes that gave us a little problem in Washington, D.C. - I think it will make the car all the better. I think we'll give the other teams a run for their money -- head to head. This is a great track and with Marc-Antoine, who knows it like the back of his hand -- it'll be great. We'll just do the best we can and hopefully we'll be on top at the end of the day."
"We hope to have the reliability that we've had the first four races," said team owner Mike Johnson. "We've made no major changes since the last race and the crew had their first day off in about two months. We've got a great driver line-up in Ben Devlin and with Marc-Antoine Camirand coming on board -- it's fantastic. We're going to stick to our normal race strategy -- which is to try and not make any mistakes and let the race come to us."
