LAKEVILLE, Conn. - Townsend Bell and Bill Sweedler will start the Team West/Alex Job Racing/Boardwalk Ferrari from the fourth row for tomorrow's American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix at Lime Rock Park.
"The laps at Road Atlanta have paid dividends here at little Lime Rock," Bell said. "It is the same story in this tough GT field. We go out and put in a fast lap early in qualifying and as our competitions tires come in they go faster. The entire GT field is within a second.
That will make for some exciting and competitive racing tomorrow. Our little team has this Ferrari right in the thick of the GT giants and we hope to carry some of the strong momentum from Laguna Seca where we finished fourth forward to tomorrow's race."
Sweedler likes the Ferrari on his home track.
"Together with Yokohama we have made progress since the last race," Sweedler said. "We seem to struggle in the hot weather and it is over 90-degrees today. The Yokohama tires perform best at a little cooler temperature. The tire really comes in fast, like within one lap.
That will help for the start of the race tomorrow. The Ferrari 458 GT sure is fun to drive at this tight track. The team has done a great job adjusting on the car with the Yokohama guys to provide the best possible setup. We will be ready for the race tomorrow."
Eduardo Espindola, team co-owner, is encouraged by the team's speed.
"We are right in the center of the tough GT grid," Espindola said. "The whole field is very close on the time sheet which will make for some great racing tomorrow. I am looking forward to seeing a very competitive run from the Team West/AJR Ferrari."
Alex Job, team co-owner, is pleased with the team's homework.
"We have made some strides with the car since Laguna," Job said. "We had a few more homework assignments with Yokohama in practice today, but I am seeing an improvement in overall performance. Townsend and Bill are doing a good job with feedback on the car and we are in the center of the GT grid for the race. Let's see what happens tomorrow."
The American Le Mans Series Northeast Grand Prix will be televised on July 6 at 3:00 pm EDT on ESPN 2, Live Streaming can be viewed on July 6 starting at 2:45 pm EDT on ESPN 3.
