Team Thiriet by TDS Racing is facing a second legend!

After its participation in the 24 Hours of Le Mans last June and its 2nd place in LMP2 class, the Team Thiriet by TDS Racing is now going to face another legend of the Endurance! Indeed, on Saturday October 20th, the team will run in Petit Le Mans (USA)!

This race was created in 1998 and takes place on the Road Atlanta circuit, Georgia, USA. It has become a reference through the years. Indeed, this very challenging race takes place on 1000 miles (1600 kms) or approximately ten hours. This year, Petit Le Mans will be the theater of the European Le Mans Series finale and will give 50 points to the winner, that is to say the double of a classic race. That is the reason why it is a very important event for the Team Thiriet by TDS Racing which, in case of victory, would win the ELMS Drivers and Teams championships as well as an entry for the 24 Hours of Le Mans 2013…

The whole team is already focused on this event. For this occasion, the line up composed of Mathias Beche, Pierre Thiriet and Christophe Tinseau has been renewed. A good thing when you know that they finished 8th overall and 2nd in LMP2 class at the last 24 Hours of Le Mans. As in Le Mans, Christophe Tinseau's contribution will be decisive because he is the only one of the line up to have competed at Petit Le Mans before (6 participations) so he knows the track very well. The choice of the third driver was natural as Xavier Combet, the team manager confirms: "We are delighted to be able to have the same line-up again as in Le Mans. Mathias was as good as we expected in June. He confirmed all his potential and his driver's skills. For Pierre, it was not easy for a Silver driver to run in the 24 Hours of Le Mans for the first time with such a high level in the LMP2 class. But he has performed his role really well. Regarding Christophe, his understanding with the team and the work he did were great. The Team Thiriet by TDS Racing gave him the opportunity to gain his first podium. With his experience combined with his renewed association with Mathias Beche and Pierre Thiriet, the team wishes to enter the history of Endurance racing by winning the ELMS titles only after two years in this championship ! We hope to add a new line to the TDS Racing history ! ”

The team will arrive on the American ground as the Drivers and Teams ELMS championships leader. But the men of the #46 Oreca Nissan know that this slight advantage (10 points ahead for teams, 14 points ahead for the drivers) will not be sufficient and that they will have to face serious competitors decided to win these different titles too ! Answer on October 20th !
