Tafel Racing enters the 2007 american Le Mans Series.
Atlanta-- Jim Tafel, owner/driver of Tafel Racing, has a history with Porsche that goes back twenty years as a consumer and as a sports car enthusiast. His rise to success as a team owner has been quite rapid, thanks to a reliable, well-engineered car, a great sponsorship package, and a highly skilled and success-driven team.
In 2006, Tafel Racing competed in the Rolex Sports Car Series with the guidance of Technical Director Tony Dowe, and placed three cars in the top ten. Wolf Henzler and Robin Liddell placed 2nd overall in the GT championship with car #72. Their combined performance earned Tafel Racing 11 podiums and 5 wins.
"The opportunity to race the new 997 RSR and be involved with Porsche as a development team is the perfect way for us to make our entry into the American Le Mans Series" said Tony Dowe, Team Technical Director.
The drivers for the 2007 American Le Mans GT2 Class will be Wolf Henzler of Germany and Robin Liddell of Scotland in car # 71 and Jim Tafel of Alpharetta, Ga. and Dominik Farnbacher, also of Germany, in car # 73.
"This relationship with Porsche will be a great opportunity for Tafel Racing to add to its engineering resources in a quality environment." said Jim Tafel. "Our program is at a point in our development where we feel that we can perform well against the very high level of competition the American Le Mans Series provides."
Tafel Racing will use Michelin tires and Mobil 1 lubricants exclusively in the American Le Mans Series.
