The two hours of testing today proved to be both useful and incident-filled for the Veloqx Prodrive Racing team with good forward progress being made in preparation for Saturday's race.
The scarlet Prodrive Ferrari 550 GTS Maranellos #80 topped the GTS class today with a time of 2.00.408. Kelvin Burt, who was at the wheel when the time was set this morning, said afterwards:
"I'm happy considering I've never been here before and still feel I'm learning the track, but frustrated at the same time that we haven't had a bit more time to explore the limits of the car. As usual, drivers always want to make the car faster and I think we could have gone quicker if we'd have had more track time."
The car ran without problems today, Burt, Turner and Davidson all taking their turn behind the wheel, although the red flags of the afternoon left Anthony Davidson a little irked as he did not complete as many laps as he would have liked. He will therefore begin tomorrow morning's practice session.
The Davies, Enge and Kox car #88 had a good morning but eventful afternoon. Good progress has been made on set up for the race, but valuable track time was lost this afternoon as a series of small problems interrupted their afternoon's practice. They were all resolved, even the final issue which caused the car to stop out on track. It became apparent, after the car was returned to the team and examined, that this was due to a minor electrical gremlin.
