Orbit Racing qualifies 14th and 16th in class for the 50th annual 12 Hours of Sebring
SEBRING, Fla.- Orbit Racing qualified today for the 50th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring, securing the 47th and 49th spots on the full grid of 56 cars.
Tony Kester handled the qualifying duties for the #42 Orbit Racing Porsche 911GT3-RS. "We were treating qualifying as a test session. It worked for us at Daytona," explained Kester. "We had a bit of a problem- the car was popping out of gear. We'll be doing a little dialing on the suspension so it will handle better, so we'll be in great shape for the race."
Gary Schultheis and Grady Willingham will join Kester in the #42 Porsche for Saturday's race, starting 16th in the GT class.
Mike Borkowski qualified the #43 Orbit Racing Porsche, driving 14th fastest among the GT class cars. "The car is absolutely comfortable. Six laps were within 2/10's of a second of each other," said Borkowski. "The car felt comfortable and the laps were good but I'm a bit disappointed as to where we are on the grid. I was expecting a bit better. I feel like we have a nice comfortable car for the race- we'll be able to drive quickly and comfortably."
Leo Hindery and Peter Baron will co-drive with Borkowski in the #43 car.
Orbit Racing is sponsored by the YES Network, CigarCigar.com, Bank von Ernst and Braman Motorcars. Leo Hindery explained the presence of the New York Yankees logo on the #43 Porsche. "I'm the CEO of the YES Network, which owns the broadcast rights for the Yankees, the Nets and the Devils."
The 50th Annual Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring gets underway on Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 am. All 12 hours of the race will be broadcast live on the SPEED Channel. More information can be found at Orbit Racing's website, www.OrbitRacing.net. Audio updates will be posted on the website every three hours during the race.
